This fall, many Bruins are just beginning their college journeys.

The 12 graduating students of the Talent Ready Apprenticeship Connection program are preparing to begin careers, instead.

TRAC is a classroom-to-career apprenticeship program that provides a clear pathway from high school, through higher ed, and to higher pay. These first 12 graduates proved the model with partners Stadler US and Doppelmayr USA.

Now, SLCC is expanding it to connect more students to more career paths, making a direct and lasting impact on those students’ futures and Utah’s economy alike.

Research tells us that when students feel they belong, they are more likely to persist and achieve their goals.

That's why creating a sense of belonging isn't extra work. It's student success work.

During HSI Week, we're celebrating the cultures, experiences, and stories that strengthen our campus community.

Student success doesn't start on the first day of class.

It starts when a student has a backpack, access to resources, a supportive community, and people who believe they belong.

This year, community partners, volunteers, and SLCC came together to support local students and families because educational opportunity begins long before college.

Being HSI-minded means seeing students' strengths before their challenges.

It means designing systems that honor students' experiences, cultures, languages, and aspirations.

At SLCC, we believe educational dignity means every student deserves to be seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Thank you, Rep. Mike Kennedy, for championing transparency in higher education!

“Now more than ever, students, parents, and policymakers need accurate, comprehensive data on college completion rates.

For too long, the success of community college students — in completing their studies and earning credentials, certificates, and degrees — has gone underreported.

I commend Congressman Kennedy and Congresswoman Hayes for sponsoring the Time for Completion Act, which will bring greater transparency to graduation-rate reporting and ensure it truly reflects the achievements of community colleges and their students.”

When we celebrate Independence Day, we often reflect on the people, events, and ideals that shaped our nation. It's also an opportunity to recognize the institutions that have helped generations of Americans pursue education, careers, and brighter futures.

Community colleges are one of those institutions.

This Fourth of July, we're proud to celebrate a distinctly American story of service, opportunity, and education.

Happy 250th Independence Day from SLCC! 🇺🇸
