The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) program is a college-based, commissioned officer training program of the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. Additionally, family, friends, or those who appreciate the U of U NROTC are welcome and encouraged to "Like" us.

The NROTC Program was established to develop midshipmen mentally, morally and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, and loyalty, and with the core values of honor, courage and commitment in order to commission college graduates as naval officers who possess a basic professional background, are motivated toward careers in the naval service, and have a potential for future development in mind and character so as to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship and government.

During lab this week, Marine Options and members of the Special Warfare Club practiced Marine Corps martial art techniques, while the Navy Options learned about Naval Engineering from our Commanding Officer CAPT Nowiki, staff LT Cowper and LT Melendez, along with guest speaker EMN1 Bronaugh, an Electrician’s Mate, Nuclear Power, currently serving as a recruiter in the local Utah area.

Today the Navy, Army, and Air Force ROTCs, sports teams, and first responders climbed the steps of Rice Eccles Stadium, the equivalent of 110 flights at the World Trade Center, to remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11. We will never forget the lives lost 25 years ago.

Fall 2026 FEX complete! Freshmen, sophomores, and all Marine option midshipmen completed a 20 hour FEX this weekend. The training included PT, close order drill, a leadership reaction course, damage control and tactical combat casualty care, with instruction from staff and multiple DIs to prepare them for OCS and learn how to handle stressful decision making scenarios.

Welcome to the Battalion 4/c!

The second day of New Student Orientation started off strong with a campus PT led by Second Lieutenant Hogue! This was followed by briefs on customs and courtesies, professionalism on social media and an introduction to Qual Cards. Finally, MIDN participated in their 2nd Class Swim Qualification!
