And that’s a wrap for the second University Band concert, Tensions! Congrats to Cris, Abby, Jodi, and Parker on some incredibly musicianship today, and some mind-blowing solos! 🤯🎶

If you missed out on this cycle of incredible concerts - don’t worry. You have one more chance for us to blow your mind this semester for our third and final concert cycle. University Band performs again on November 15 at 3pm - be there!

Congrats to Francis, Katie, Leo, Parker, and Logan on an amazing performance last night for the Symphonic Band’s concert, Through Light and Darkness. For a quick turnaround to our second concert cycle of the season, we were floored with how good all our double reeds sounded, nailing solos and really filling in the color and texture of the pieces. With one more cycle to go, we can’t wait to hear how your musicality and artistry evolve!

Congratulations to Walter, Francis, Makayla, Parker, and Logan for all the hard work they put into a quick turnaround from their previous concert cycle and still doing incredible jobs showcasing their hard work and mastery of their instruments.

A huge thank you to Ashley Rubio for her incredible donation of music to the UT San Antonio Double Reeds! Any time we can acquire music, it reduces the financial burden on our students as they have a library of music they can look through, and what a library this now is! We filled an entire cabinet from Ashley’s donation.

Thank you, Ashley, for giving our young double reeds more opportunities to become stronger musicians.

You’ll receive help from Prof. Jose Hernandez, Dr. Sarah Wildey, Prof. Katherine Martz of Outer Loop Bassoon, Dr. Andrew Parker of UT Austin, and Prof. Sabrina Stovall of Adelante Winds - it’s an all-star line up we’ve curated to maximize your all-state help.

We have the perfect thing to help - our bassoon professor, Dr. Sarah Wildey, will be helping you whip your etudes into shape during our Bassoon All-State Day! Whether you’re TMEA or ATSSB bassoon, or if you’re going the contrabassoon route, Dr. Wildey has tricks and tips to make you feel like you are on track with your etude prep.
