Former UTSA Music scholarship recipients and graduates are successfully teaching in public schools and universities, attending prestigious graduate schools, conducting professional ensembles, performing in major orchestras, producing their own weekly television programs, and winning prestigious performance competitions.

Introducing our next Tech Lab Live group... Dear Sarah!

Dear Sarah is an independent, self produced rock band from San Antonio, Texas– forming in 2025 after their high school graduation. Combining sounds from artists such as The Cranberries, The Cardigans, and The Breeders, Dear Sarah is the second of our three artists selcted for our Tech Lab Live series. Inspired by NPRs Tiny Desk, Tech Lab Live is a series of live performances filmed in the Music Tech Lab here at the School of Music.

In this interview, we got a chance to talk with the members of Dear Sarah as they share a bit of their journey so far in the band, along with the experience of being a part of the new Tech Lab Live series.

Led by Gary Poffenbarger and John Caputo, the UTSA Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble (Boom Squad) will present an exciting program featuring captivating tuba and euphonium solos alongside vibrant ensemble performances.

Swing by for the UT San Antonio Sonido Tejano's FIRST PERFORMANCE of the semester!

Under the direction of our Artist in Residence, Shelly Lares, and Professor Michael Acevedo, our Tejano ensemble have been hard at work preparing for this upcoming recital. Originating from South Texas, Tejano music blends Mexican and American musical traditions together to form a unique genre that represents generations of musical storytelling and community expression.

Don't miss out on this amazing night of culture, roots, and a spotlight on the next generation of Tejano musicians.

Join the University Chorus as they present, To Love!

Under the direction of Michael Fain, and Billie Whittaker on piano, experience the University Chorus' first concert of the semester– a performance exploring the themes of love through all aspects of life.

As a mixed ensemble, the University Chorus is one of our campus-wide ensembles here at the School of Music, comprised of an array of students from various majors. With all of our students coming together to explore their love of music, this concert will be an amazing show of musicianship unlike any other.

Daniel is a San Antonio-based singer songwriter and the first of our three artists selcted for our Tech Lab Live series. Inspired by NPRs Tiny Desk, Tech Lab Live is a series of live performances filmed in the Music Tech Lab here at the School of Music, aimed to highlight the artists in our UT San Antonio community.

We're so excited to finally kick off this series– this project has been a huge labor of love for many of the people involved, and we're looking forward for the future of this series. This performance is just the beginning of our Fall season, so stay tuned from now till the end of the semester, as we drop TWO more live performances here, and on our Youtube Channel!
