San Antonio Metro Health District (SAMHD) seeking public health volunteers to assist with COVID-19 response

As it currently stands, SAMHD will need about 2-4 public health students per shift (9:00am-11:30am, 12:00pm-3:30pm, 4:00pm-7:00pm) to assist their epidemiology team on a daily basis (Sunday-Saturday). Public health students will help the SAMHD epidemiology team with contact investigations of exposed and confirmed cases, assisting in the phone banks answering COVID-19 questions, and other assigned duties that will likely change throughout the response. What is important to SAMHD is having consistent and dedicated volunteers that come on a regular basis.

2020 Dean's Chat to be held Online

Out of caution for the well-being of the UTHealth School of Public Health community, the 2020 Dean's Chat will now be hosted online via WebEx.

Tune in on Wednesday, April 8 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. through WebEx to listen to Dean Eric Boerwinkle answer questions from the student body.

A friendly reminder to sign up for your flu shot!

We have partnered up with CVS Pharmacy to host a free flu clinic here at the San Antonio campus on October 30th from 1pm-3pm. It's free with most insurances and a $5 coupon to CVS will be given out for those who participate. This event is open to students, staff, family, and friends! All we need is a copy of your most current insurance card (which you can get scanned on campus or have a picture emailed to us) and a flu shot consent paper to reserve your shot. No worries if you can't get the paperwork and insurance submitted by the deadline, we will be accepting walk-ins as well! Contact Student Affairs if you have any questions 😊

We would like congratulate our current MS Epidemiology student, Alvin Estacio for winning the interactive student category for the Heart of Texas Data Visualization Contest! The contest was sponsored by American Heart Association - San Antonio and the Texas Department of State Health Services. He was presented his award at last week's Healthier Texas Summit! Congrats Alvin!
