Join us tomorrow October 27 to witness North Indian Flute Across Traditions with Maestro Deepak Ram inside Recital Hall in the Arts Building on UT San Antonio Main Campus at 7:30 PM. Free and open to the public.

Deepak Ram is a versatile artist who is well known for his evocative performances in traditional North Indian (Hindustani) classical music, his collaborations with musicians of other genres, his innovative compositions and for his excellence as a teacher. Deepak’s knowledge of both Indian and western traditions is evident in his compositions which range from pieces for jazz groups, western flute quartets (flute, violin, viola and cello), choral works and ballets to orchestral pieces.

Congratulations to Kim Bishop, MFA ’22, a San Antonio artist and manager of UT San Antonio Professional and Continuing Education’s Young Artist Program, whose two new works are welcoming travelers to the Alamo City while sharing a story deeply rooted in San Antonio’s history and connection to the river.

Bishop’s “Fountainhead” and “Rise Up” have been permanently installed in the new Ground Terminal at San Antonio International Airport. Together, the site-specific works span more than 2,400 square feet and invite travelers to experience the San Antonio River not simply as a familiar landmark, but as a place of origin, history and cultural memory.

Please join us for the third event in the 2026-27 Arts + Ecology Series featuring artist, Marisol Cortez on October 22nd at 6:30 PM inside the Dining Hall, Urschel Building on the UT San Antonio Southwest Campus.

Rooted in San Antonio, Marisol Cortez writes across genre about place and power for all the other border walking weirdos out there. She is author of the award-winning South Texas cli-fi novel Luz at Midnight (FlowerSong Press 2020) and two books of poetry, The Bird Church (Finishing Line Press 2025) and I Call on the Earth (Double Drop Press 2019), a chapbook bearing witness to the forced removal of MissionTrails Mobile Home Community. She teaches creative writing at the University of Texas San Antonio and serves as Creative Editor for Deceleration, a grassroots media project that covers environmental justice thought, praxis, and art for South Texas. Art has a way of bringing people together. Saturday’s opening of with a Shared Vision at Bihl Haus Arts was a beautiful chance to celebrate the artists behind UT San Antonio’s AIR: Public Art for Public Schools Program. 🎨
