UTSA Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Welcome to the page for the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) at The University of Texas at San Antonio.

The Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department (ELPS) prepares educators to become transformational leaders who can work effectively in diverse, ambiguous, and challenging contexts. The goals of this transformational leadership include equity, excellence, social justice, democracy, risk-taking, and responsiveness to community needs. Students in the ELPS academic and professional program

s receive a high quality educational experience that prepares them for work in PK-20 educational settings as educational leaders and scholars. Our doctoral students continue to be recognized by the American Educational Research Association and UCEA for the quality of their research, present regularly at national and regional conferences, while our Master's degree and certification students complete our programs ready to assume increasingly responsible leadership positions in a variety of educational settings.

We’re excited to invite you to a special Fireside Chat next Tuesday, April 28th, at 6:00 PM at the Downtown Campus!

This engaging event is focusing on how to build a strong, intentional network of support throughout your academic journey.

The event will feature a panel of UT-San Antonio ELPS faculty, moderated by ELPS Fellow Bobbie Faith and doctoral student Laura Everett. In addition, four faculty–mentee pairs will share their partnership experiences, offering honest insights into challenges, relationship dynamics, and the meaningful outcomes that mentorship can create. Their stories will provide practical strategies to help first-generation students cultivate effective and empowering mentoring relationships.
