St. Mary's University's actuarial science program is preparing students like RJ Rojas and alumni like Maroun Harb (B.B.A./B.S. '23) to step into one of the fastest-growing fields in the country. With a job outlook growing 22% over the next decade and a median salary of $125,700, actuarial science is what RJ calls a "hidden gem," and it all starts right here on campus.

St. Mary's University has approved a new Master of Social Work degree launching Fall 2027 🎓
Our MSW will be the only program in San Antonio offering fully asynchronous delivery, Military Social Work and Integrative Behavioral Health Care specializations, and a foundation rooted in Marianist values.
With 97% of Texas counties designated mental health professional shortage areas, our Rattler community is answering the call by preparing social workers who advance dignity, opportunity and hope where it's needed most.

What. A. Season. 🐍🔥
Our Rattlers showed up and hand a masterful postseason! Here's how we closed the season on the biggest stages in DII:
⛳ Women's Golf made history at the NCAA National Championship, finishing 3rd in stroke play, the highest in program history. Junior Taylor Wilczek was the National Runner-Up (216 strokes), becoming the highest individual finisher at the NCAA Tournament in school history. The team advanced to Match Play and wrapped up their season with a 5th place national finish.
🥎 Softball battled through the NCAA South Central Regional, bouncing back from a tough opening loss to No. 6 Colorado Christian to upset two-time defending National Champion UT Tyler in an elimination game. Rattler resilience on full display.
⚾ Baseball opened the NCAA South Central Regional with a statement win over Lubbock Christian, avenging their LSC semifinal loss, before going toe-to-toe with the No. 1 team in the country, Colorado Mesa.
No matter the field, the course or the diamond, Rattlers competed with pride! 💙💛

⚾ Baseball punches their ticket to the South Central Regional for the first time since 2015, opening against Lubbock Christian on Thursday.

Retiring from teaching art after 37 years at St. Mary’s University, Professor of Art, Brian St. John, M.F.A., has included selections of artworks from 1989 to 2026.

The exhibition will run through Friday, May 8.

Lifelong university educator, Sallie V. Sheppard, Ph.D. (Hon. D. Sc. ’25), will offer the University Commencement address at St. Mary's University Spring 2026 Commencement.

A year ago, St. Mary’s bestowed the degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, on Sheppard, who is committed to higher education and helping students learn.

On Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m., the University ceremony will honor the accomplishments of 373 new graduates, including 299 receiving bachelor’s degrees and 74 receiving master’s degrees.
