Last week, the UTSA Department of Chemistry came together for our annual two-day department retreat! This year’s theme, Project UTSA Chem, brought our team together for a fun and meaningful start to the fall semester.

🧡 Day 1: We gave back to our community through a service activity at the San Antonio Food Bank, followed by a screening of Project Hail Mary. A fun way to connect our retreat theme with science and teamwork!

💙 Day 2: Our retreat featured a poster session, scientific dialogues, and team-building activities designed to spark collaboration, share ideas, and strengthen connections across our department.

It was a rewarding two days filled with science, service, collaboration, and Roadrunner spirit! Here’s to a great start to the fall semester! 🧪🔬

Last month, we hosted the Closing Reception for the Voelcker Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates in Pharmaceutical Sciences, celebrating an incredible summer of research, learning, and discovery. As part of the reception, this year’s cohort presented their research projects during our poster session, showcasing the work they had dedicated their summer to completing.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to The Max and Minnie Tomerlin Voelcker Fund for their continued support of this program over the past three years. Their generous support provides students with valuable opportunities to engage in scientific research, explore graduate degree programs, and gain meaningful experience that helps prepare them for future careers in the sciences.

Thank you to our scholars, faculty, staff, and donors for making another successful summer possible!
