Psychology Day* is Wednesday, November 5th, 2025. This event has occurred on the NVC campus (or online during the pandemic) for 19 years, and every year it’s more fun! Students and staff can learn about different research areas of psychology through tables and hands-on activities from 9:30-12 p.m. at the tables surrounding Live Oak Hall outdoors. Register to win prizes by receiving a Bingo Card and visiting as many booths as you can!
From 12:30 to 2 p.m. the Psychology Day speaker, Dr. Jennifer Yarbrough, will talk about stress and stress management for college students. The speaker will be located in Desert Willow Welcome Center 214/216.

Join us for one of the longest held student events at NVC, the 19th Annual Psychology Day! Would you believe this event was first held in 2007 and that it started because a graduating pre-nursing student shared an idea that it would be fun to hold an event like this?! We would love to have you join us for morning activities and/or our afternoon speaker.
Morning/Activities Wednesday, November 5, 2025
LOH Breezeway from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Psychology Day offers interactive demonstrations and information related to psychology for students who are interested in learning more about psychology and what psychologists study. Booths will include (but are not limited to) stress, happiness, s*x, personality, sensation and perception, and many more. The day consists of interactive learning tables outside LOH.
Afternoon/Speaker
DWWC 214 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Guest Speaker Jennifer Yarbrough will talk with NVC students about the importance of Stress Reduction on National Stress Awareness Day -November 5th,, 2025.

The Northwest Vista College Psychology Department Award Fund is providing up to two (2) $500 awards for students during this fall of 2025.

Students must meet the following criteria:

1) Award recipients must be majoring in Psychology at Northwest Vista College. Northwest Vista College must be your home campus.

2) Award recipients must have completed a minimum of 15 earned credit hours, but no more than 45 earned credit hours, toward a Psychology AA degree at the time they apply to be considered for this award.

3) Award recipients must possess a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA to be considered for this award.

4) Award recipients may be full-time (12 credit hours or more) or part-time (with as few credit hours as 3 being allowable) at the time they apply to be considered for this award.

5) Award recipients must write an essay addressing their aspirations in the psychology field and how these aspirations will benefit humankind. This essay should also describe the recipient’s plan to achieve his/her aspirations. This essay should be no longer than 1500 words in length.

6) Essays are to be submitted to the Alamo Colleges Foundation General Scholarship Application - submissions are open now and will close October 15, 2025 at 11:59pm. https://alamo.academicworks.com/opportunities/6068
