The CSUSB Department of Music provides students with a rigorous musical education as a foundation for a lifelong understanding and love of music, as well as preparation for a wide variety of careers in music. We accomplish this through an emphasis on undergraduate education, small class size, and close interactions between faculty and students, all with a continual focus on artistic expression. Co

nsistent with the university’s mission, the department is also committed to serving the campus and Inland Empire communities through on-going performance and educational initiatives. Modern musicians have access to more kinds of music than ever before in history, and CSUSB's music curriculum—with courses in electronic music, performance, world music, historical studies, music education and music theory—reflects that diversity in that it offers programs for students who wish to enter the teaching profession, become a professional musician, work in the music industry, pursue an advanced degree, or simply enrich their education.

SoCal Music Therapists! The Department of Music at CSU San Bernardino is hiring for our Part-Time Lecturer Pool in Music Therapy. Applicants should be able to teach either online or in person at our San Bernardino campus, one or two courses a semester. They should hold a Master’s degree in Music Therapy or related area, should be board-certified (MT-BC), and should have at least 3 years of full-time practice experience. Formal review of applications begins immediately.

🌟Join us at the CSUSB/SBSO Summer Camp!! 🎉🎷🌟

Through a partnership with the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra (SBSO), this camp brings middle-school and high-school students to the CSU San Bernardino campus 🏔️ to participate in a week-long series of classes, workshops, rehearsals, coachings, sectionals, and masterclasses. Students will work with a faculty of professional musicians from both CSUSB and the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra. ✨

Middle school students are able to select from one of two tracks: 1) combined orchestra 🎻 and band 🎷🎺🥁, and 2) piano 🎹.

High school students are able to select from one of four tracks: 1) string orchestra 🎻, 2) wind band 🎷🎺🥁, 3) piano 🎹, or 4) music technology 💻🎤🎧.

Please note that the high school string orchestra and wind band will combine into a joint ensemble for certain performances.

➡️Students may only select one track.
