CSUSB Outdoors mission is to provide the community with a diverse range of outdoor recreational and educational opportunities. We incorporate "Leave No Trace" and cultural/historical knowledge about the areas we visit. Participants will learn how to recreate safely in the great outdoors, develop an appreciation and understanding of our natural surroundings, experience personal growth and leadership development, learn teamwork and healthy communication skills, form new relationships and of course... have fun!

Trip Recap: Convict Lake Camp and Explore October 2 - 4, 2026

Convict lake was a nice cozy trip in the sierras. We got explore devils postpile and rainbow falls in one hike! Afterwards we were able to chill at the hot springs and come back to camp for burritos 😎. Our last day we got to kayak in convict lake and make our final stop at Erick Schatts for some bread 🥖.

Join the CSUSB Adventure and enjoy a weekend of desert camping and star gazing! Named after the prickly Yucca, Joshua Tree National Park is home to some of the most fascinating geologic features and desert species in Southern California; the California tree frogs and a host of cacti reside exclusively in this exquisite national park. Joshua Tree NP combines two neighboring and yet distinct desert ecosystems of the Mojave and the Colorado, where the intense interactions of Earth’s crust and geothermal energy created the unique rock formations called the monzogranite, which comprise some of the park’s most iconic landscapes. Venture into the wild with the CSUSB Adventure on this unique opportunity to be one with nature.

Trip Recap: Big Bear Service and Hike
September 26, 2026

We started off our celebration of National Public Lands Day by volunteering with the Southern California Mountains Foundation . Our group helped with a variety of fun projects including Milkweed planting, oak tree planting, and fence building. After volunteering we headed to the Castle Rock Trail in Big Bear. It was a challenging hike, but we pushed through to Castle Rock, where we were met with incredible views of Big Bear Lake. An awesome day all around!

Trip Recap: Yosemite Camp & Explore
September 25-27, 2026

Our quick weekend trip to Yosemite was one for the books! Filled with beautiful views, waterfalls, and active wildlife! 🏕️⛰️

Day 1: We drove up to Yosemite Valley, checked out the Tunnel View and Bridalveil Falls before setting up camp for the weekend. ⛺️

Day 2: We had an early breakfast to prepare for our all-day hike. ☕️Completed over 7 miles of very steep incline while checking out the stunning views on our way up the Mist Trail in Yosemite. ⛰️We got to enjoy our lunch at the top of the trail, followed by a much-needed nap 💤 before starting the trek back down. After getting back down, we made burritos for dinner and got washed up before unwinding for the night under the stars. ✨

Day 3: We packed up our campsites, had breakfast, and headed to our last hike of the trip. We completed a relatively short trail known as Grizzly Bear Loop 🐻, where we got to see beautiful sequoia trees such as Grizzly Giant.🌳🌲After a nice weekend of hiking, we returned to CSU San Bernardino, recharged and ready for midterm season! 📚✏️

Trip Recap: Beach Bonfire and BBQ
September 27, 2026

For this trip, we packed up some food and a grill and headed straight to Huntington Beach! Once we arrived, we found our fire pit, unloaded the food and chairs, and went straight to the water to cool off.

After spending some time in the ocean, we fired up the grill and enjoyed some grilled turkey burgers and hot dogs. As the sun began to set, we were treated to amazing views of the colorful clouds reflecting over the water. Then it was time for the bonfire! We gathered around the fire and shared stories with one another

As the trip came to an end, we packed everything into the van, and jammed out to music all the way back to CSUSB!

Trip Recap: San Diego Pacific Costliner Trip
Saturday, September 19

Two groups depart from CSUSB, one by van to Balboa Park and one to the LA union train station to take the train down to Old Town San Diego. At Balboa Park we visited multiple museums, cultural houses, and a zoo. Afterwards, we drove down to explore Old Town San Diego seeing an old and rustic town, eat lunch at Doc Holliday's saloon, and exchange our van keys with the morning group. After exploring we depart Old Town aboard the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner seeing the beautiful sunset across the vast ocean, ending our day with a van ride home once arriving at the LA union station.

Trip Recap: Sequoia Camp and Explore
September 11 - 13, 2026

3 day adventure to Sequoia National Park 🌲
The first day started with catching the sunset at Moro Rock. The following days were filled with peaceful walks through the Buena Vista and Crescent Meadow trails, with plenty of snack breaks, and even a lucky bear cub sighting.
Later that evening, we took the shuttle to the Dark Sky Festival, where we got to see the night sky through telescopes and laid back enjoying the clear, star filled sky’s ✨🌌
Ending the trip with a visit to the General Sherman Tree being the largest tree in the world by volume, by far.
