The Department of Communication at the University of San Diego is proud to maintain a campus charter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national honor society for undergraduates in Communication. Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) represents what Aristotle described in his book, Rhetoric

, as the three ingredients of persuasion. Logos (Lambda) meaning logic;
Pathos (Pi) relating to emotion; and
Ethos (Eta) defined as character credibility and ethics. Lambda Pi Eta is the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association (NCA) and is accredited by the Association of College Honor Societies.
