On Wednesday, October 14, journalist Michael Grunwald, author of We Are Eating the Earth, is at USD for two events.

WORKSHOP, 4:00–5:15 pm, KIPJ Conference Rooms: a conversation between Grunwald and USD faculty from five departments on how to talk about food and climate with people who don’t already agree with you; no registration needed.

KEYNOTE, 5:30–7:00 pm, KIPJ Theatre: his talk on why the climate fight runs through food, with Q&A, followed by a reception with free food at 6:30. Both are free.

On Thursday, the Department of Anthropology and the USD chapter of Phi Beta Kappa sponsor a guest lecture by John J. Shea, PhD, professor of anthropology at Stony Brook University, New York.

Dr. Shea will discuss his research focusing on the prehistory of southwest Asia and eastern Africa, early human population movements, Neanderthal extinction, and the development of prehistoric hunting weapons.
