After wrapping up three impactful sessions of our BiGI Summer Academy, we proudly welcomed 104 new BiGI scholars at our third annual induction ceremony this month! 🎉

Rising sixth, seventh and eighth graders, together with their families, officially joined this bold initiative designed to nurture genius, expand opportunity and reimagine what learning can look like when students bring their full selves to the classroom. 🌟📚

The celebration also honored University of San Diego SOLES double alumna Dr. Fabiola Bagula, newly appointed permanent superintendent of San Diego Unified School District, and Dr. Gloria E. Ciriza, San Diego County superintendent of schools, with the BiGI Squad Award for their leadership and enduring commitment to students and communities across San Diego.

Dr. Bagula leads with conviction and heart, and we share her strong commitment to ensuring all children, regardless of background, have the opportunity to thrive in their educational environments.

Our hearts are heavy as we watch the devastation from the wildfires in Los Angeles continue to grow. We are grateful to the firefighters, first responders and volunteers who are working day and night on the frontlines, helping people get the support they need. We pray that they are surrounded with protection as they continue their work.

We know that many of our Toreros have been impacted by these fires or know of people who have been affected. Yesterday, the university sent an email to students with a list of resources available to support them. Please be sure to look for this email and utilize these resources.
