Founded in 2003, the Rady School of Management was created as a shared vision by local science and technology leaders with the goal of enhancing the vitality of the strong regional economy. As part of the prestigious UC San Diego campus, the Rady School is surrounded by premier research institutions, accelerators and other top-ranked schools of excellence. The Rady School offers a full-time MBA program, a FlexMBA program for working professionals, a full-time Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAc) program, a full-time Master of Finance (MFin) program, a full-time Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA), a FlexWeekend MSBA program, a Ph.D. program, undergraduate and executive education courses.

Golden hour, Rady style. 🌅

UC San Diego Rady School students, faculty, staff and alumni came together on the Rady Lawn for our first Golden Hour on the Green! With music from DJ Tsitsi Moyo, guests enjoyed an evening of games, refreshments and good conversation as the sun went down.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the start of a new year at Rady!

Leadership skills matter most in the moments that test you: navigating a difficult conversation, working across different perspectives or helping de-escalate conflict.

The Rady-GPS Leadership Development Program is designed to help you grow as a leader and prepare for the challenges of today’s workplace through experiential activities. Amber, a staff member at UC San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy, and Daniel, a Rady FlexEvening MBA student, share how the Rady-GPS Leadership Development Program helped them build practical tools they use in their work every day.

The free program is open to Rady and GPS graduate students, staff, faculty and alumni. Sessions cover self-awareness and leadership, communication and conflict, sound judgment, collaboration and more.

Sessions are held Wednesdays from 12:30–1:30 p.m. in a hybrid format. Attend individual sessions or complete the requirements to earn a certificate.

Congratulations to Luis Cortes Dequidt, MBA ’26, on being named one of Poets&Quants’ 2026 MBAs to Watch!

Luis chose the UC San Diego Rady School for its combination of rigorous academic finance and real-world capital markets. The School’s connection to Nobel Laureate Harry Markowitz and its faculty research in finance made it the right place for him to deepen his expertise.

His favorite professor was professor Krisztina Buti, whose Mergers & Acquisitions course challenged him to look beyond the numbers:

“In her classroom, finance was never just about valuation models or discount rates. She constantly challenged us to think about how economic systems shape incentives, opportunity, and wealth creation. She would connect theory to lived experience, contrasting different market structures and reminding us that capital allocation decisions ultimately impact people’s lives.”

Luis also valued Rady’s culture of accessibility, where faculty, administrators and alumni were approachable, invested and committed to student growth. He saw success as something communal, shaped by mentorship, shared ambition and mutual support.

He carried that spirit into his own leadership at Rady by founding The Rady Investing Club, growing it to more than 50 members and bringing industry leaders to campus. He also served as Vice President of Finance for the Rady Student Association, worked as a teaching assistant and earned his CFA charter.

Congratulations to Jennifer Sigl, Full-Time MBA ’26, on being named one of Poets&Quants’ 2026 MBAs to Watch!

Before joining the UC San Diego Rady School of Management, Jenni built a successful career in podcast production, including producing Bad Blood: The Final Chapter, which was named Apple’s No. 1 subscription offering of 2021. She decided to attend Rady to build her network and the next stage of her career in San Diego.

At Rady, Jenni made a meaningful impact as President of Women of Rady and as cohort representative, creating opportunities for learning, connection and leadership within the community.

She also credits professor Uma Karmarkar with introducing her to marketing and setting her on a new career path:

“I loved the case-based discussion format of her course and the high level of intellectual rigor she provided and expected in the classroom.”

Today, Jenni works as a Senior Marketing Specialist at AMN Healthcare.

Noah Elorreaga, Full-Time MBA ’27, looks back on his summer internship at Philips.

“Over this summer I got the opportunity to work at Philips as a Downstream Marketing Intern assigned primarily to corporate strategy related to the Physiology market.

This summer has been full of amazing opportunities to learn about the Coronary heart space, network with amazing people from around the country and the world, all while getting hands on with the best in class products for PCI.

I have gotten opportunities to work on projects that expanded my industry knowledge and build on the acumen developed at Rady.

A huge thank you to Steve Zizzo, Nicholas Lavely, and Ashlee Gora for the guidance and setting an amazing example this summer."

Zerrin Alena, MQF ‘26 shows us what a day in her life looks like interning at Monitor Deloitte in Jakarta, Indonesia this summer!

“Throughout my internship, I contributed to projects across M&A and transaction structuring, commodity trading risk management, treasury and liquidity management, and business transformation.

One of my biggest takeaways was realizing that technical analysis alone is not enough to provide the best solution for a client. Every client has different needs, making agility, adaptability, and curiosity essential to understanding the problem and developing the right solution. Equally important is knowing how to translate complex analyses into practical, actionable recommendations that clients can implement.

Exposure to a wide variety of industries and projects gave me a clearer understanding of how finance, risk, and strategy intersect in practice. It also showed me the importance of collaborating with people across different areas of expertise and learning from the perspectives they bring.

Overall, this internship was an incredibly insightful learning experience, and I’m grateful to the Monitor Deloitte team for the opportunity to learn and grow throughout the summer. A special thank you as well to UC San Diego and the Rady Career Management Center for their continued support and for helping prepare me for opportunities like this one!”
