⚛️ Building more reliable quantum computers.

UC San Diego CSE Associate Professor Yufei Ding is a co-principal investigator on a new $37.5 million NSF-funded center focused on developing practical, self-correcting quantum computers.

Ding leads a research thrust focused on making quantum error-correction practical, bringing together theory, scalable architectures and software to help bridge the gap between promising quantum devices and reliable systems.

✈️ What if a small device could take over critical electronics on a Boeing 737?

UC San Diego CSE researchers have uncovered a new aviation cybersecurity risk, demonstrating how physical access to an onboard maintenance port could interfere with communications between critical flight computers.

Using real Boeing 737 components in a controlled demonstration, the team showed how a custom device could alter flight-path information and other aircraft data.

Led by Aaron Schulman and Stefan Savage, alongside CSE researchers Sam Crow and Pat Pannuto, the research highlights the importance of securing the physical layer of modern aircraft systems.

🎉 CSE Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Recap! 🎉

We celebrated the grand opening of our newly renovated CSE space with a dynamic student collaboration area, 13 new staff offices, and a 2,900-square-foot, state-of-the-art data center designed to fuel the next generation of AI and computing research. 💻🚀

A huge thank you to Department Chair Steven Swanson and former Department Chair Sorin Lerner for sharing their inspiring visions during the ceremony, and to everyone who helped bring this project to life. Here’s to a new era of collaboration, breakthroughs, and sustainability at UC San Diego! 🔱

Recapping an incredible Company Recruitment event with ChipAgents.ai! 🚀 This past quarter, we had the pleasure of hosting this up-and-coming semiconductor startup right here at the UC San Diego CSE Department.

They shared fascinating insights into how they are revolutionizing agentic AI to make chip design and manufacturing more efficient. It was great learning about their origin story and the exciting opportunities available for students to join their team! 💻✨

We ended the night with meaningful conversations, networking, and getting to know one another. A huge thank you to Prof. Julian McAuley for bringing ChipAgents.ai to our department!
