🏆 Thomas Jefferson School of Law Hosts the 2026 National Sports Law Negotiation Competition!

Thomas Jefferson School of Law proudly hosted the 2026 Annual National Sports Law Negotiation Competition this past weekend, October 16–18, welcoming 40 teams from law schools across the country, including UC Berkeley, Tulane University, and American University.

⚾ The weekend kicked off with a special guest! Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Dave Winfield joined the festivities at the Welcome Party, sharing insights and stories from his remarkable career with the aspiring lawyers in attendance. He also signed copies of his new autobiography, Touching All the Bases, giving students a memorable opportunity to meet a baseball legend.

The nationally recognized competition culminated in championship rounds judged by the Honorable Benjamin Cheeks, United States District Judge; the Honorable Steve Chu, United States Magistrate Judge; and Linda Keller, Dean and President of Thomas Jefferson School of Law.

🏆 Congratulations to this year’s champions, Texas A&M University! The University of San Francisco earned second place, and the University of San Diego finished third.

A heartfelt thank-you to all the TJSL student volunteers and volunteer judges who generously contributed their time, expertise, and enthusiasm to make this outstanding event a success. Your dedication and support are essential to the continued success of this nationally respected competition and help make it a memorable experience for everyone involved!

Please join us in welcoming our Fall 2026 incoming class! 🎓⚖️

This fall, 85 new students are beginning their legal education with us—41 in our residential program and 44 in our online program.

Together, they represent 17 states, with 67% calling California home. Our incoming students bring a rich variety of backgrounds and experiences to our community: 80% are students of color, 62% identify as female, 30% already hold advanced degrees, and the average age of the class is 31.

We are excited to welcome each of these students and look forward to watching them learn, grow, and become part of our law school community in the years ahead.

Thomas Jefferson School of Law is proud to participate in Justice 250, a landmark community event commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation and celebrating the enduring principles of the rule of law, our judicial system, and American democracy. The public event will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2026, aboard the iconic USS Midway Museum in downtown San Diego.

Representatives from TJSL's Legal Clinics, including Professor Stephanie Germani, Esq., as well as Reza Garajedaghi, Admissions Outreach & Recruitment Manager, will be in attendance.

The TJSL Nice, France Study Abroad Program was a tremendous success this summer! 🇫🇷☀️

In partnership with La Faculté de Droit de l'Université de Nice, students spent three unforgettable weeks on the French Riviera while earning up to four academic credits. Through internationally focused coursework, participants explored and compared American and European legal systems, gaining valuable global perspectives on the law.

From the classroom to the Mediterranean coast, the program offered a unique opportunity to combine academic growth with cultural immersion. Activities included a visit to the courthouse in Nice, a vespa tour to Monte Carlo, and a trip to the Massena Museum. We look forward to returning next summer!

Thomas Jefferson School of Law is proud to celebrate the graduation of our December 2025 and Spring 2026 classes. 🎓

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, we had the privilege of honoring all graduates at the historic Balboa Theater in downtown San Diego.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all our speakers Michelle Gastil (2009) and Ashley Salas (2015), for delivering truly inspiring and thought provoking address, and to our Graduate Speaker, William David Denny, whose heartfelt remarks were a beautiful reflection of the strength and character of this graduating class.

Our exceptional graduates have demonstrated remarkable commitment and perseverance throughout their legal education, and we have no doubt they will go on to make a profound impact in the legal profession and in their communities.
