✨ Faculty Spotlight: Syleecia Thompson ✨

Associate Professor of COBET, Dr. Syleecia Thompson recently represented National University at the Joburg Film Festival in South Africa, one of the country's premier international film festivals.

During the festival, Dr. Thompson led a master class titled, “The Creative Economy: Monetizing Your Creativity in the Diaspora”, where she shared insights on entrepreneurship, ownership, branding, and building sustainable opportunities within the global creative economy.

By connecting creativity, education, and entrepreneurship on an international stage, Syleecia continues to empower creators, innovators, and future leaders to turn their ideas into lasting impact. 🌍✨

Her work reminds us that creativity is not just an art form, it's a powerful driver of opportunity, innovation, and economic growth. 💙

We believe you can learn a lot about people by what they’ve got in their bag! You’ve got to have the tools you need to succeed, and that includes some NU resources that don’t fit into a small space like our library, TimelyCare, wellness resources, and more. Take advantage of them to make school success not an “if,” but a “when.” 🩵

✨ ANDer of the Month Spotlight: Stephanie S. ✨

Stephanie S. is pursuing her B.A. in Pre-Law while balancing many roles: mother, first-generation college student, Academic Peer Navigator, President of NU's Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law chapter, full-time paralegal, and proud ANDer.

After aging out of foster care at 18 and raising a family, Stephanie never thought earning a degree would be possible. Today, she maintains a 3.9 GPA while helping fellow students navigate their own educational journeys and preparing for her next goal: attending NU's JFK School of Law. Driven by a passion for justice, service, and advocacy, Stephanie hopes to build a career helping others navigate complex legal systems and access opportunities that can change lives.

Her advice: “Successful people are not perfect. They learn from failure and do not give up.”

Stephanie embodies what it means to be an ANDer: resilient, compassionate, and committed to creating a brighter future for herself, her family, and her community. 💙
