🏳️‍🌈Celebrate Silicon Valley PRIDE with the SJSU King Library this weekend🏳️‍🌈.

💛💙SJSU Special Collections & Archives will be 🫶tabling Saturday 8/29 from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 8/30 from 12-6 p.m. at Plaza de San Jose to highlight our LGBTQ+ collections available to Spartans, local researchers, and community members. ⚠️Don't forget to purchase tickets in advance. Learn more at www.svpride.com 🎟️

🎞️Archival materials preserve and share the stories, experiences, and perspectives that shape our collective identity - beyond our Spartan campus. They connect people across generations, foster a sense of belonging, and create opportunities for dialogue, learning, and reflection. By making histories visible and accessible, we can strengthen relationships and empower communities to recognize their shared past while imagining their future together.🥰

👋Connect with support staff and explore the variety of materials like photographs, books, magazine, small-press publications, newspapers, periodicals, and records from LGBTQ+ individuals, activist groups, and community centers from over the last near-century featured in our LGBTQ+ collections. 🔗 Visit online at: tiny.sjsu.edu/PRIDECollection

Our SJSU faculty educate not only students but the University and higher ed to learn, grow, and advocate in the right direction.

One of our champion tenured faculty, librarian, and and director of the of the Africana, Asian American, Chicano, and Native American (AAACNA) Studies Center at the SJSU King Library, Kathryn Blackmer Reyes, ’96 MLIS, is retiring but her lasting impact and continued advocacy surely isn't going anywhere.

Blackmer Reyes has been pivotal to the growth of the beloved AAACNA Studies Center on the fifth floor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, cultivating a space of representation and belonging to students and a collection proving resources for advanced ethnic studies research that stretched beyond the curriculum.

Blackmer Reyes's community and campus connections, cultural and research advocacy, and treasured special and institutional collections have advanced SJSU's advancement of ethnic studies in higher education.

Read more about Blackmer Reyes's contributions and career on the SJSU NewsCenter blog.

C'mon👋, let's celebrate International Friendship Day!✨

Friendships, like art🎨, are created in so many different places; such as school, coffee shops☕, and even work. Through creative differences and shared goals, we value the friendships we make along the way because they add color, meaning and love🫶 to our lives.

Grab a friend and take a stroll to explore the best of downtown San Jose like the San Jose Museum Of Art (free for Spartans)🖼️, the King Library📚, and/or maybe skip down memory lane💭 because friendships are worth celebrating. Miss you, Alex!💙💛
