Join us for our next art exhibit at the EVC Art Gallery, "Elemental," from October 19 to December 3.

The EVC Art Gallery is open from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Thursday.

Elemental celebrates jewelry, sculpture, and objects crafted from metal and other materials drawn from the natural elements of earth, air, fire, and water. Showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship of Bay Area artists, the exhibition highlights the region’s rich metal arts community and EVC’s integral role in nurturing the next generation of metalsmiths.

THIS WEDNESDAY!

Join us on Wednesday, October 21 as we host filmmaker Charlene Stern, who will present her 30-minute documentary "Near Normal Man," in the Language Arts Hall from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Students! Ask your professor about getting extra credit for attending.

"Near Normal Man" is a half-hour documentary film, told in a first-hand account by Ben Stern, a Polish Jew, who survives 2 ghettos, 9 concentration camps, and 2 death marches. Ben is Charlene's father.

The N***s identify him as one of the most dangerous Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto. He emerged alive, only to face the N***s again – 30 years later, this time in Skokie, Illinois, fight against a Neo-Nazi rally.

Hear his story and talk to the filmmaker herself.

EVC is coming off a 3-1 win at Chabot College on Tuesday and is in a three-way battle with CCSF and Hartnell, both 4-0-0, for the top spot in the Coast North standings.

Latinx Heritage Month had its closing ceremonies on campus, where our favorite Mariachi returned to entertain, and we announced the winners of our art contest. The contest centered around someone who inspired you. Two winners chose family members, and another painted a portrait of Latina astronaut Ellen Ochoa.

Our Women and Gender Studies program hosted three lawyers in a panel discussion — Erin Rasmussen, Emanuella Omori, and EVC alumna Nina Capurso. The three lawyers discussed their careers and what students can do to pursue a career in law. Professor Jasmine Diaz served as host.

History professor Eric Narveson also got to reconnect with two former students, including Nina who was a panelist.
