What is it like to represent Lurie College at commencement? 🎓

Hear from three former Lurie College student speakers as they reflect on their experiences, the meaning of sharing their stories, and what the opportunity meant to them.

Applications are now open for one student speaker to represent our Fall 2026 graduating students at the Lurie College Commencement Ceremony on Wednesday, December 16, at 7:00 p.m.

All interested students may submit a 3 - 4 minute video of you reciting your speech, no more than 600 words, by Monday, November 9, at 5:00 pm.

Project EXCELL is recruiting its inaugural cohort of scholars for Spring 2027! 🎓

Funded through a personnel preparation grant from the Office of Special Education Programs, Project EXCELL prepares candidates for the Mild to Moderate Support Needs Education Specialist Credential and Added Authorization in Early Childhood Special Education.

Project EXCELL Scholars will receive additional training and support related to high-quality, developmentally appropriate literacy instruction. Their experience will also include cohort meetings, Speaker Series events, mini professional development sessions, and a summer practicum through Camp EXCELL, where scholars will provide structured literacy instruction for young children.

Join us for an Info Session this Friday, October 23, to learn more about the program and the application process.

What scares you? Maybe it’s a classic spooky story, or a real fear you’ve faced as a student, such as failing a class, not getting the course you needed, or feeling uncertain about what comes next.

Join us to share a story about a fear you’ve faced, how it affected you, and how you found your way through it. You can take the stage, come listen, or support your fellow storytellers. Your story belongs here.

Could your voice represent Lurie College at commencement?

We are looking for one student speaker to represent our Fall 2026 graduating students at the Lurie College Commencement Ceremony on Wednesday, December 16, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.

This is an opportunity to share your story, reflect on the journey that brought you here, and celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of fellow graduates across our undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and credential programs.

The selected speaker will help bring the Lurie College community together with a message that is meaningful, original, and inclusive of the many experiences represented at commencement.

To apply, submit the application form and upload a 3- to 4-minute video of you reciting your speech. Speeches should be no more than 600 words.

Dean Sanogo is inviting you to join an informal listening session about an early idea for a possible school within the Connie L. Lurie College of Education.

Have questions? Thoughts? Ideas? This is a chance to share them directly. No decisions have been made. We’re simply creating space to listen, learn, and hear what matters most to you.

The listening sessions will take place on:
📅 Monday, October 19, from 3–4 p.m.
📅 Wednesday, October 21, from 10:30–11:30 a.m.

Both sessions will be hybrid, with an in-person option at the Student Success Center, SH 106, and a Zoom option available.

Hello, amazing SPED and TED students! đź’™ This one's for YOU!

Dean Sanogo is hosting two informal listening sessions for students to ask questions, share ideas, and talk openly about an early concept for a possible school within the Connie L. Lurie College of Education.

This is still an early conversation, and no decisions have been made. Your perspective matters, and these sessions are a chance to share what is important to you and talk about how this idea could affect your department and your experience as a student.
The sessions will be held in a hybrid format on:

📅 Wednesday, October 21, from 10:30–11:30 a.m.
