One more Summer Intern Spotlight!

SJMC Journalism student Reese Levinson spent her summer as a Communications and PR Intern with the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce.

In the role, Reese updated website content, created media, gathered member testimonials and helped maintain branding across the Chamber's communications.

Reese also built hands-on experience in professional media creation, networking etiquette and storytelling, skills she says have prepared her for a future in PR and communication.

Congratulations, Reese, we can't wait to see where this experience takes you!

Dr. Carrie Angell, lecturer at SJMC, has been named a winner of the Austin Business Journal Women in Business Award. This well-deserved honor recognizes her leadership and the impact she continues to make in the community.

We are hiring! 🚨

Share this with your friends who want to gain hands-on experience in live sports production!

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication is hiring student production crew members for the Texas State Gameday Pregame Show. Students will gain practical experience in live remote production, professional broadcast workflows, and sports media while working alongside experienced production professionals.

The position pays $12/hour and is approximately 10 hours per week. Students do not need to work every game, and scheduling will be coordinated around academic commitments.

The Summer Intern Spotlight continues!

SJMC student Mischa Diaz is spending her summer gaining hands-on experience in event production and office operations as an intern with C3 Presents.

She has had the chance to organize employee events, create office resources and, coordinate festival logistics.

The highlight of her internship was traveling to Chicago for Lollapalooza, where she worked with the Kidzapalooza team to set up the festival area, organize activities, and assist families on-site.

Experiences like this are giving SJMC students the real-world skills to become strong storytellers and communicators!

SJMC Public Relations student Andrea Naranjo is spending her summer as a Public Relations Intern at BECK Media & Marketing, an award-winning entertainment PR agency with offices in Los Angeles, New York City and Atlanta.

Through the agency's remote internship program, Andrea has collaborated with teams across all three offices, researching media opportunities, drafting press materials, building media lists, monitoring coverage, and pitching journalists. Her work has supported campaigns for clients including Disney Branded Television, National Geographic, Paramount+, Hallstone Ventures, and Johnsonville Inc.

Andrea was recently asked to extend her internship through the fall, a true testimony to the hard work and dedication she has brought to the role. Congratulations, Andrea, we can't wait to see where this experience takes you!
