Congratulations to the recent Central Carolina Community College Detention Officer cadets on successfully completing their training!
These officers worked hard and dedicated themselves to completing the required training to prepare for the important responsibilities of working in a detention facility.
Throughout the course, they completed blocks of instruction covering PREA (Prison R**e Elimination Act), mandated jail rounds, medical procedures, transportation of inmates, contraband, and many other important state-mandated topics.
A Detention Officer plays a critical role in the safety and security of a detention facility.
Their responsibilities include maintaining the security and order of the facility, supervising and monitoring inmates, conducting security checks and rounds, responding to emergencies, transporting inmates, recognizing medical needs, preventing the introduction of contraband, and ensuring inmates are treated safely and appropriately according to established laws, policies, and procedures.
This is a demanding profession that requires integrity, professionalism, communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
We are proud of the hard work and dedication each of these officers demonstrated throughout the course.
Their training has prepared them to take on the challenges and responsibilities that come with serving as a Detention Officer.
Congratulations to the entire class!
We wish each of you a safe and successful career as you begin this important chapter in your law enforcement journey.
Job well done!
