Through campus and community partnerships the mission of EL CENTRO is to promote a critical understanding of Chicana/os and Latina/os within the United States and internationally. 📣 Abriendo Caminos in Psychology 🧠

Interested in pursuing a career in psychology/behavioral health, but not sure where to start? Join us for a workshop with Career Success and an alumni panel. Gain valuable insights on breaking into a career in a field of psychology that interests you while enjoying coffee, conchas, and tamales.

This event is designed for all students interested in pursuing a career in psychology/behavioral health after graduation – including those whose majors fall outside of Psychology and Cognitive Science!

Every year, communities around the world honor and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed on. Día de los Mu***os is one of many beautiful traditions that remind us to celebrate life, love, and memory🕯️

In this post, we highlight a few countries that celebrate Día de los Mu***os and other communities around the globe that honor their ancestors through food, music, art, and celebration. Each tradition is a unique reflection of remembrance, connection, and love shared throughout generations 💜🧡

Join us this Saturday, November 2nd for our Día de los Mu***os Ceremonia in the Quarry Amphitheater! Doors open at 4:00 PM ☺️

Every element of an ofrenda weaves a story of remembrance, honoring the lives, spirits, and memories of those we’ve lost. We invite you to explore these elements for inspiration if you wish to create your own ofrenda. 🕯️♥️

A community altar will be present at our Día de los Mu***os Ceremonia next Sunday, Nov. 2nd, and we encourage you to bring an ofrenda to share with the altar. 🌙

Submissions for the DÍA DE LOS MU***OS Call for Spoken Word and Poetry opened today, October 14, 2025.
Deadline for entry is October 21, 2025.
Selection notifications will be sent on October 24, 2025.

Once selected, we will send additional information including the performance time of the spoken word or poetry. Please note, if selected your submission will be printed in our annual Dia de los Mu***os Ceremonia program which is distributed to guests. Participants who are selected will be receiving a modest honoraria of $100 for their time and efforts. Please direct any questions to [email protected]
