U was started by Dr. Robert S. Pappas in 1999 and is primarily an analytical testing laboratory for the essential oil industry. We use the latest in GC/MS technology including chiral GC/MS testing as well as new instrumentation for testing Optical Rotation, Refractive Index and Specific Gravity. EOU has the largest online database for essential oil chemistry in the world at www.essentialoils.org. In addition running EOU, Dr. Pappas established the Essential Oils Group on LinkedIn which now consists of thousands of professional members worldwide and is an excellent source of information about essential oils with no advertisements allowed! This page is dedicated spreading accurate information concerning essential oils and dispelling the myths that have been hyped over the years. EOU does not sell essential oils nor do we recommend sources other than to clients who have hired us to do consulting work for them. As an independent analyst of essential oils for many companies Dr. Pappas cannot make public recommendations of suppliers so please do not attempt to use this site as a sourcing medium or to advertise your company. YL Valor Question

After I posted the formula for Valor, a follower of this page recently stated that they were a user of the blend and never realized that most of the blend consisted of a carrier oil. They wanted to know how they could determine that since it wasn’t stated explicitly on the website. So I thought I’d explain this to let others know how to recognize when companies aren’t so forthcoming about letting users know when blends are cut with carrier. If you look at the INGREDIENTS section of the Valor webpage you’ll notice the first ingredient is “Capric/caprylic triglyceride.” This is chemical name for MCT oil (Medium Chain Triglycerides) also known as Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO). This is typical carrier oil used in blends, usually at 75-80%. Hope this helps.
