$1 for $1 Fundraiser Update
We are deeply grateful to everyone who donated to our recent 1:1 tuition campaign honoring our beloved former board member Joe. Your generosity—and your belief in our students—means more than we can express.
As we close the books on our fiscal year, we wanted to share an update that this year's campaign fell short of our fundraising goal by approximately $85,000. While we didn't reach our target, we are grateful for every gift and every person who chose to invest in lifelong learning for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Like many nonprofits, we're navigating rising operating costs. Today, the true cost of delivering a CAA class is approximately twice what we are reimbursed by the state. Even so, we're in a strong position to move forward. Thanks to careful financial stewardship, a dedicated finance team, and reserves established through a transformational state grant, CAA remains financially stable as we continue planning for long-term sustainability.
We're also taking action. All three of our signature fundraising events will return this fiscal year, and we're actively working with state leaders to advocate for an updated reimbursement rate that more accurately reflects the cost of providing high-quality, college-level education.
This semester, because of supporters like you, 319 students are enrolled in 107 course offerings each week. Students now join us from 12 states and even from Lagos, Nigeria, demonstrating that the demand for accessible, lifelong college education extends far beyond our local community.
Since opening our doors in 2009, CAA has grown by more than 3,000%. That growth has only been possible because supporters like you have believed in our mission, shared our vision, and helped us build something that simply didn't exist before.
Thank you for continuing to support our vision for a future where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have access to lifelong college opportunities wherever they live—much like Special Olympics transformed access to athletics around the world.
