Remember. 🧡

LSSU recognizes Orange Shirt Day as we honor survivors of residential schools, remember those who never returned home, and reflect on the lasting impacts on Indigenous communities.

Hello Sault Ste. Marie!

We here at the Arts Center often find ourselves awestruck by the variety of talent that comes through our doors and performs on our stage. One such example is American mime artist and educator Bill Bowers!

Alongside his own original one-man play 'It Goes Without Saying', Bill Bowers has appeared in numerous productions throughout New York. He has also performed on Broadway, appearing as Zazu in productions of 'The Lion King' (pictured here) and originating the role of Leggett in the Tony-award nominated musical ' The Scarlet Pimpernel.'

Bill Bowers will be performing 'It Goes Without Saying' on October 9th at 7pm right here at the LSSU Arts Center. Don't miss out! Get your tickets here: https://shorturl.at/zobPJ

A team of LSSU researchers have refined a genetic testing method that makes determining the s*x of sturgeon more reliable. This advancement helps support fisheries research, conservation, aquaculture, and sturgeon management. 🐟

The research, led by Professor Britton Ranson Olson alongside Professor Kevin Kapuscinski and Master’s candidate Alana J. Miller-Schofield, was recently published in BioTechniques.

We’re excited to showcase these findings and the impact of faculty-student collaboration at LSSU!🔬

This morning, the Laker community came together in remembrance.

The 25th Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony brought the campus and local community together on Pleger Commons.

Representative Parker Fairbairn, along with the Sault Ste. Marie fire chief and police chief, joined the Laker community as bells tolled to mark the times of each of the four attacks. Through moments of silence, reflection, and remembrance, we honored the lives lost, those impacted, and everyone who answered the call to serve.

Patriotic songs will continue to be played on the bells throughout the day for those on and around campus.

We will never forget.
