*What if a city’s greatest flood risk could become one of its greatest civic assets?*
For Suksheetha Adulla (M.Arch, 2026), this question became a guiding principle for designing a more resilient relationship between architecture, water, and the city.
Suksheetha sees architecture not simply as the making of buildings, but as a way of engaging with the forces that shape everyday life. Her time at SCAD deepened this perspective, leading her to explore how architecture can make something as fundamental as water visible, tangible, and shared.
Her thesis, Urban Waterscapes: Distributed Hydrological Framework for Flood Adaptation, reimagines the Musi River as a civic and ecological spine for Hyderabad, one that can support both flood resilience and public life.
At the metropolitan scale, the project proposes a network of blue–green infrastructure nodes that slow, store, filter, and redistribute stormwater before it reaches the river. At the architectural scale, it develops a resilient civic typology that brings people closer to water through landscapes, public spaces, and everyday interaction with hydrological systems.
