Calling the next gen of vocal performers! 🎙️

In partnership with Emmy, Academy Award, Golden Globe, and eight-time Grammy Award-winning artist, Jon Batiste, SCAD is launching its first-ever audition-only B.F.A. degree in vocal performance, with Batiste serving as the program's founding director.

Designed for today's multifaceted performers, the new degree, included in the School of Film and Acting, reflects the evolving entertainment industry, where artists move seamlessly among music, stage, film, and television. Students will hone their vocal artistry while mastering the musicianship, storytelling, and creative versatility needed to build lasting careers and entertainment industry acumen.

This milestone builds on Batiste's growing collaboration with , from helping create Press Play, the university's immersive music listening lounge, to inspiring graduates as the 2025 commencement speaker.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Scholarship Fund celebrates its 30th anniversary with a record $1.5 million provided to design students across the country. Join us as we celebrate four SCAD fashion design students receiving the CFDA x Melvin and Monique Rodriguez Family Foundation scholarship!

The winning SCAD student concepts explored hair, including its textures, densities, colors, and patterns, as a conceptual foundation for creative expression.

Paola Maldonado (B.F.A., fibers, 2018) finds new ways to elevate walls and interior spaces with her threading of fibers and diverse materials into attention-grabbing works of art.

Inspired by nature and its raw materials, her artistry reflects a continuous dialogue among the natural world, craftsmanship, and contemporary design. During a recent SCAD Alumni Atelier residency, she expanded her practice to merge sculpture and ceramics with her fibers work.

Maldonado founded Paola M Studio in Quito, Ecuador in 2020, where she creates large-scale custom installations and ceramic wall hangings that emphasize texture, materiality, and form — including one created for the university’s SCAD AT MIAMI exhibition in 2023.

She said YES to the internship! 💍✨

Leah Katz (B.F.A. fashion) spent her summer interning in New York at Kleinfeld Bridal. As a longtime “Say Yes to the Dress” fan, working at the studio where her bridal passion began was a true full-circle moment.

At Kleinfeld, Leah learned everything she could about gowns: construction, fabrics, silhouettes, and trends. She gained invaluable experience and insight into the “I do” industry, not to mention meeting Randy, connecting with incredible designers like Pnina Tornai, Nicole Chang from Nicole and Felicia, Saraeh Nori, Justin Alexander, and trying on some gowns herself (of COURSE!)

And when it comes to her future in fashion? We’re saying YES! 🤍✨

Great design can speak for itself. 🪧

Our 2026 ATL Valedictorian Kalina Richardson (B.F.A., graphic design, 2026) has earned multinational acclaim from Graphic Design USA, International Design Awards, and the Indigo Design Awards, contributing her dynamic expertise to SCAD SERVE and SCADpro projects, including the FIFA World Cup 26™ in Atlanta.

At SCAD, Kalina found the power of intention, collaboration, and creative connection. Her printmaking minor helped shape her thoughtful approach to graphic design and visual communication.

“Intention is everything…By making thoughtful decisions, you're able to communicate a message to your audience that is understandable to all.”

Now, Kalina is taking her talents to Dallas as a brand and graphic specialist at Corgan Inc.
