SSU students are attending The Georgia BLACKPRINT: A Prosperity Convening, joining leaders, entrepreneurs, elected officials and changemakers from across the state for conversations centered on economic opportunity, leadership and building stronger communities.

Experiences like these give our Tigers the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, build meaningful connections and see firsthand how collaboration can create lasting impact across Georgia.

A strong start for Savannah State’s newest MPA cohort. 🐯

Provost Cox recently joined 30 new Master of Public Administration students at the Coastal Georgia Center for History, Scope, and Practice of Public Administration, sharing insight on what leadership looks like in practice.

From transformative leadership and managing people to navigating culture change, the conversation challenged students to think beyond theory and consider the role they can play in shaping organizations and communities.

The visit also connected the work happening in the classroom to President Whirl’s mission and vision for Savannah State — setting the tone for a new cohort preparing to lead, serve and make an impact.

A special thank you to Dr. Otillia Iancu, Professor and Department Chair at Savannah State University, for helping create this meaningful opportunity for our students.

From the classroom to the industry! This summer, Michall Bethea, a Middle Grades Education major at Savannah State University, spent two months interning with Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Ellabell, Georgia.

As part of the Learning & Development Department’s Partnerships team, Michall gained firsthand experience at the intersection of education and industry — including work directly connected to the partnership between Savannah State and Hyundai.

His major project focused on developing new programs and initiatives through Hyundai College Education to create opportunities for students throughout the upcoming academic year.

For Michall, the experience reinforced an important lesson: educators can make an impact far beyond the classroom.

Michall also extends a special thank you to Mr. Dawson and Dean Thompson for helping make this opportunity possible!
