Last week’s North Carolina Biomedical Association (NCBA) Symposium was a great opportunity to connect with the HTM community, share knowledge, and spend time with so many people working to advance the field.

One of the highlights for the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology (CBET) team was the Oxygen Blender course, led by CBET’s Zachary Nelson alongside Tony Valdovinos of PM Biomedical. We want to give special recognition to PM BIOMEDICAL for their contributions to this course. Their team played an important role in supporting the development of the course materials and Tony brought his hands-on expertise directly into the classroom to help lead the session. We’re grateful for PM Biomedical’s partnership and the time, knowledge, and resources they contributed to making the course possible.

And we have to give a shoutout to CBET’s Lesley Harrington, RBLP-T Harrington, who came home a winner after being selected in Atlantic Biomedical Company's gift card giveaway!

We’re proud to recognize Dayton Closser as our next College of Biomedical Equipment Technology (CBET) Instructor Highlight! 👏

Dayton teaches HISM 1510: Introduction to Servers and HISM 1520: Cloud Foundations, and his impact shows in the feedback from his students. He consistently earns some of the highest student satisfaction ratings in our course surveys. His contributions extend well beyond the classroom. Dayton mentors students, shares his industry knowledge, supports CBET initiatives, and brings thoughtful ideas to the continued development of our programs. He is also working on new courses to expand CBET’s curriculum and strengthen the student learning experience. His collaborative approach, professionalism, and commitment to student success make him an important part of the CBET team.

Carlos Coronado, BMET Dental Repair Technician, grew up in Nicaragua surrounded by dentistry. His father was a dentist, and other members of his family also built careers in the dental field. Carlos eventually found his own place in the industry through dental equipment service.

After completing the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology (CBET)’s Dental Repair Technician Certificate, Carlos transitioned from student to dental service technician with Patterson Dental. He was also a recipient of a MARS Bio-Med Processes Inc. scholarship supporting students pursuing careers in dental repair.

In our latest Student Spotlight, Carlos shares with Lesley Harrington, RBLP-T how his family background influenced his path, how online education helped him continue working while completing the program, and what he would tell someone considering a career in dental service. We’re proud to see Carlos take what he learned at CBET and begin building his career with Patterson Dental.

It has been a busy few weeks at the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology (CBET) in Texas, and we’ve loved having so many people stop by!

We had a great visit from Andrea L. Bordenca with DESCO Service, who spent time with our Dental Boot Camp students and CBET team. Andrea got a firsthand look at the collaborative environment in our labs, where students work together, share resources, and train on a wide variety of manufacturers, models, and equipment. We especially appreciated the conversations around workforce development and where HTM education is headed next.

Chace Torres, CBET, CHTM from Ohms Law Foundation stopped by too! We’re grateful for his continued support of students through the Ohms Law Foundation Scholarship and for the investment the foundation is making in future HTM professionals. We were also happy to welcome Bryant K. Hawkins Sr. from Elevate HTM, alongside Trimedx, for more great conversations around the industry, education, and developing the next generation of HTM talent.

Darrine Miller from UptimeHealth also joined us during Dental Boot Camp. CBET is proud to work with UptimeHealth on dental education initiatives, and having Darrine on-site gave our students another opportunity to connect directly with an industry partner and learn more about the dental equipment field.

And of course, it was great having Stu Sinukoff and Heather from MARS Bio-Med Processes Inc. in the office! MARS has been an incredible supporter of dental education, including through the MARS Biomedical Dental Scholarship, which helps students pursue careers in dental equipment service and repair. Last but not least, we recently welcomed an international student all the way from Melbourne, Australia for hands-on dental equipment training. Getting students into the lab, working directly with equipment, and putting what they’ve learned into practice is one of our favorite parts of what we do.

We love seeing our Texas office full of students, partners, employers, and friends from across the industry. Thank you to everyone who has stopped by lately. Our doors have been busy, and we wouldn’t have it any other way! 💙

The College of Biomedical Equipment Technology (CBET) is heading to the North Carolina Biomedical Association (NCBA) Annual Symposium soon!

Lesley Harrington, RBLP-T and Zachary Nelson will be representing the CBET team at this year’s event, connecting with HTM professionals, students, and industry partners from across the region.

Zack will also be teaching an Oxygen Blenders Certification Course at the event, giving attendees the opportunity to take part in hands-on technical education and earn vendor certification.

Carlos Coronado, who is based in San Antonio, began working as a Dental Service Technician with Patterson Dental while completing the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology (CBET)'s Dental Repair Technician (DRT) certificate program. He was also awarded a MARS Bio-Med Processes Inc. Scholarship during his education. Recently, Carlos stopped by CBET to pick up his diploma and reunite with dental instructors Mathew Colson and Ray Torres, giving them a tour of his Patterson Dental service vehicle.

Originally from Nicaragua, Carlos comes from a family of dentists and dental hygienists who served their community. He always dreamed of combining his passion for dentistry with his technical abilities. Through hard work, dedication, and the CBET DRT program, he turned that goal into a rewarding career and became a Dental Service Tech.

Congratulations, Carlos! We look forward to seeing where your career takes you.
