SCC Hospitality & Culinary Club Explores the Iconic Valley Ho Hotel!
Students from Scottsdale Community College’s Hospitality and Culinary Club recently toured the beautifully restored Hotel Valley Ho, a mid-century modern landmark located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale.

Hotel management staff were very generous with their time, sharing insights into the property’s fascinating history, architectural design, and the unique features and services that make the hotel a top choice for both leisure guests and group business.

Being part of the SCC Hospitality & Culinary Club offers students valuable opportunities to stay informed about industry trends, build professional networks, connect with instructors in a more personal setting, and experience the world of hospitality and culinary arts from a real-world perspective.

Bowen Kilker Brings Luxury Hospitality Experience to Scottsdale Community College’s Hospitality & Tourism Program

Scottsdale, AZ – June 9, 2025 – Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is pleased to welcome Bowen Kilker as an instructor in its Hospitality & Tourism Management Program. Kilker joins SCC with over 20 years of leadership experience in luxury hotel operations, including roles with Four Seasons, Starwood, and Marriott.

Most recently serving as Director of Room Operations at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn. Kilker oversaw departments including Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Security, and Retail. His career has taken him to top hospitality destinations such as Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Denver, Colorado, San Diego, and Santa Barbara, California.

"Joining SCC allows me to blend my industry experience with my passion for teaching and mentorship," said Kilker. "I’m excited to help students become the next generation of hospitality leaders. I believe in leaving a legacy of excellence and having fun along the way."

Kilker began teaching in 2019 at Grand Canyon University and transitioned to higher education full-time in 2024. A Phoenix native, he also enjoys woodworking and traveling with his wife and their two dogs, most recently in a canoe he built himself.

“Bowen brings a rare blend of real-world knowledge and a deep commitment to student success,” said Janelle Hoffman, SCC’s Hospitality & Culinary Faculty Chair. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to the team and have him in the classroom this fall. He’s an Artichoke now!”
