Today, we remember the service, sacrifice, and selflessness from our fallen soldiers. Historically, Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day, as people would decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers.

Congratulations to Prof. Kate Cummings, Research & Instruction Librarian for Business, on being awarded the Provost's Beloved Community Award. The award recognizes a faculty member whose teaching, scholarship, and/or service significantly advance the University's Jesuit, Catholic mission by fostering a campus culture rooted in justice, human dignity, and solidarity. Kate embodies this award through her research, service, and librarianship on topics ranging from DEI, intellectual freedom, and professional leadership.

The Weinberg Memorial Library now has a board game collection! Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration held on May 5 to celebrate Mexico's victory over the French forces of Napoleon III at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza. It is sometimes confused with Mexican Independance Day, which is actually September 16.
