Clinical experiences begin for CFIT!

Our cohort is taking the next step in their CFIT journey with an orientation to kick off their clinical experiences.

These opportunities allow students to connect what they’ve learned in the classroom with real-world clinical settings as they continue preparing for careers in the cardiac device industry.

We’re excited to see our students grow in knowledge, confidence, and readiness for what’s ahead!

Thank you to Abbott CRM for visiting CFIT! Dallas White (CFIT alumnus), Michael Asturi, and Jason Callaway joined us to share an overview of Abbott and its work in cardiac rhythm management.

After the overview, students participated in breakout sessions that allowed for smaller, more personal conversations and the opportunity to ask questions, hear experiences, and gain valuable insight into the industry.

We appreciate Abbott taking the time to invest in our students and help prepare them for their future in the cardiac device industry!

In a recent CFIT class, Mary Margaret Watson introduced students to Kibo and the “Kibo Way,” exploring how asking good questions and recognizing the strengths of others can help communities build a better future.

Through Kibo’s work in the Busoga region of Uganda, students learned the importance of addressing root causes, empowering communities, and creating sustainable solutions.

At its heart, the Kibo Way recognizes the dignity and creativity of all people and the importance of actively participating in creating a better future.

For our CFIT students, this class was an opportunity to think beyond technical knowledge and consider how thoughtful questions, service, and community can make a lasting difference.

Thank you to John Hunter, Elizabeth Smith and Aaron Gignilliat from Medtronic Research for visiting CFIT and sharing insights into this side of the company!

It was especially meaningful to have John with us as his daughter, Abby, is part of our CFIT cohort! Our students gained a broader perspective on the research behind cardiac device innovation and the opportunities that exist beyond the clinical setting.

Our annual CFIT Fall Cookout!

Burgers, hot dogs, s’mores, a little fishing, and plenty of time to relax and enjoy each other’s company! Thank you to Bob and Ellen Watson for hosting us on their land for an evening of good food, fresh air, and CFIT fellowship.

We’re grateful for opportunities to step away from the classroom, make memories, and strengthen the connections that make CFIT more than a degree!
