We join together as a Seattle University community in remembering Sister Kathleen Sullivan, RSCJ, who died on July 24. A Religious of the Sacred Heart and educator, Sister Kathleen taught mathematics at Seattle University for 24 years. She was known for encouraging young people, particularly girls and students from underrepresented backgrounds, to pursue mathematics, science and computer science and for her leadership of the Splash! program. In recognition of Sister Sullivan’s contributions to the university, an endowed professorship was established in her name. She was also the sister of SU’s former president, William Sullivan, S.J. The university extends its condolences to Sister Sullivan’s family, friends and all who were fortunate to learn from and work alongside her. May she rest in peace.

A recipient of Seattle University’s Archbishop Raymond G. Hunthausen Award, Erin Kwan ’26 had the honor of delivering the valedictorian address at Graduate Commencement this year. Throughout their time at SU, Erin combined a passion for equity with a commitment to supporting students and reducing barriers in higher education.

As a senior advisor in the Office of Prestigious Fellowships and Awards, Erin also worked with Fulbrighters with Disabilities to help make fellowship applications more accessible for neurodivergent applicants.

Next, they hope to continue advocating for historically underrepresented and underserved students in higher education.

Thanks to Seattle University alumnus Will Trogdon, ’16, Vice President of Marketing & Brand for FIFA World Cup Seattle, students in Seattle University’s MBA in Sport and Entertainment Management got a behind-the-scenes look when they visited the FIFA World Cup Seattle Media Center. ⚽

From hearing about community impact and economic opportunities to connecting with professionals across sports, media and local government, students got a firsthand look at what it takes to manage a global event happening right here in Seattle.

🎓 Meet the Class of 2026: Gracson Milton, ’26, Psychology

From Salt Lake City to Seattle University, Gracson Milton built her college experience in leadership, service, and community. As secretary of Alpha Sigma Nu, SU’s National Honor Society, she helped welcome over thirty new members and launched a faculty lecture series through a grant she helped secure.

A recipient of the 2026 Provost’s Award, Gracson’s time at SU was shaped by mentors and professors who supported her growth and helped guide her academic and professional goals.

Next, she will return to SU to continue working in Housing and Residence Life while pursuing the Early Career MBA Program, combining her background in psychology and business to advocate for more people-centered workplaces.

🎓 Meet the Class of 2026: Preman Rami, ’26, Marketing

From London to Seattle, Preman Rami’s time at Seattle University took him across classrooms, research projects, and internships globally. He researched consumer psychology with Professor Mathew Isaac, PhD, completed an internship at Amazon Robotics, and studied abroad in Madrid and London.

Along the way, Preman served as a New Student Mentor and stayed active on the soccer field as a six-time intramural champion.

Next, Preman plans to pursue a career in marketing, sales, or partnerships.

Seattle University alumna Ifrah F. Ahmed, ’12, thought her path would lead to becoming an international human rights lawyer. Instead, an inspirational trip to Somalia sparked a new mission to preserve and celebrate Somali culture through food.

Today, she’s a chef, writer and author whose debut cookbook, Soomaaliya: Food, Memory, and Migration, combines recipes with the history of trade, colonization, resistance, migration and war in Somalia that influenced Somali cuisine.
