Welcome to PCB Club — Fall 2026!

What a way to start the quarter! A full house for the ECE Innovation Lab first PCB Club meeting this quarter!

This quarter, students are taking on an exciting, advance-level project: designing and building a LiPo Battery-Powered Bluetooth Stereo Speaker Amplifier.

A big shout-out to Maddie, who designed and built the working prototype, and to Maddie and Maria for putting together and leading a great first PCB Club presentation!

There’s a lot of real engineering packed into this project—from Bluetooth audio and amplification to LiPo battery power, charging, protection, cell balancing, and PCB design.

Big thank you to Faith and Clifton for getting the word out about PCB Club and so many of our other projects and events. Getting students involved is what makes these programs a success!

And, of course...
Design it. Build it. Take it home!

Completion of the Light Up Your Ideas workshop, held over three Saturday mornings. Students from local colleges and high schools, along with two alumni, learned the basics of PCB design while creating their own printed circuit boards. Their designs were manufactured in Asia and returned for the final session, where participants assembled and soldered their boards.

Plugged In: Where Engineering Meets Adventure
At the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, the Innovation Lab makerspace is redefining what it means to be an engineer and a makerspace. It’s not just a lab and makerspace; it’s a social hub where creativity, music, robotics, and technology collide to create a genuine sense of adventure.

A Community in Motion
The atmosphere is open and driven by shared experiences. On any given day, you’ll find students leading STEM Outreach workshops for local high schools and community colleges, singing and playing guitars/instruments, or simply hanging out as new projects take shape. The makerspace is a design center built on the idea that engineering should be active, social, and—most importantly—adventurous.

Engineering Your Adventure
That spirit of exploration extends beyond the lab. Students organize and head out together for a day in the city, starting with a walk through the iconic sights and sounds of Pike Place Market before catching the Bainbridge Island ferry for a trip across the Sound to catch lunch or coffee. It’s a space where engineering becomes part of everyday life’s adventure—a mix of friendship, local exploration, and hands-on creation where we build memories as often as we build circuits.
