Connecting campus and community is our jam. That includes facilitating community engaged learning opportunities through partnerships between faculty and local nonprofits.
A recent partnership between Dr. Pao-Yin Huang, assistant clinical professor of Counseling, Dr. Jordan Shannon, associate professor of School Counseling and local nonprofit Multimedia Resources and Training Institute (MMRTI), resulted in a career counseling course where master's students' skills could support MMRTI's goals of drop-in sessions for personalized career plans, summer internship connections and general career advice. The results of this partnership were powerful. MMRTI received more than 35 applications for their Summer Youth Media Internship and Mentorship Program. Seattle University students practiced building relationships, listening to clients' needs and drawing on appropriate tools and frameworks to determine effective plans.
We continue to be inspired by the innovation happening on campus and beyond.

It was our pleasure to take Seattle University President Maura Mast, Ph.D. on a neighborhood walk last week! President Mast visited three of our community partner sites, including Rachael Steward with Seattle Housing Authority at Yesler Terrace, Dr. Ronnie Belle at Seattle Public Schools Bailey Gatzert Elementary and Amy Sagerson at St. Francis House Seattle

CCE Neighborhood Walks are just one way we connect campus and community as part of our mission to pursue a more just and humane world.
