Did you know... in addition to facilitating student mentoring programs through our Seattle University Youth Initiative (SUYI) programs, CCE also supports SU faculty and staff to facilitate transformative community experiences for students that address the needs and priorities of community-based organizations?
CCE staff assist with every aspect of Community Engaged Learning (CEL) course design and facilitation, from project scoping and partnership development to assessing student and community impact? We support community partners and guide faculty and students through the logistics of beginning their placements, including holding in-class workshops for students on the principles and practices of equitable community engagement.

At CCE, the Student Experience of Community Engaged Learning (CEL) is:
**an experience in which students connect concepts in the classroom to equitable solutions to issues impacting one or more communities.
**fosters transformational experiences and deepens the impact on a student's education.
**is key to engaging students and community leaders who will positively transform our university and broader communities.
CCE works with Seattle University instructors to identify community organizations where SU students can be matched in either placement-based or project-based experiences. Through the process of cultivating community, students can develop authentic relationships, advocate for social change and work to redistribute power. CEL asks students to go beyond direct service to examine the underlying social systems that perpetuate inequalities and explore ways to dismantle these systems.
