We've been at the bargaining table with the state, including the Governor and OFM (Office of Financial Management).

They refused to come to the table with a better deal, that included better pay and better contract.

Today we did this thing - you saw it right, we walked out of our office demanding the OFM and Governor to sit down at the table with a better deal.

And it went all over the news with the walkout.

Now, your move Governor.

Public workers and the communities we serve are in crisis, with many struggling to pay for food, housing and basic necessities. Billions in impending federal cuts will only make it worse. Rather than investing in the people and services that help our communities stay afloat, Governor Ferguson has ca...

Years of subpar pay and cuts -- everything the governor’s team has suggested as a SOLUTION at the negotiating table and in the legislature -- helped create the budget crisis we're now living through.

It's a time to reverse course, not double down.

They claim they can’t spend a single dime on the workers who keep this state running, yet pay out astronomical liability claims ($1b in the last 5 years alone), caused largely by running agencies with skeleton crews.

Meanwhile, construction is actively underway on an estimated $8.6 million project to restore the historic skylights in the House and Senate chambers.

That’s almost $9 million in taxpayer dollars so legislators can sit under soft ambient daylight while the folks who do the work are left in the dark.

We can think of better ways to use taxpayer dollars.

A union representing 50,000 public employees is planning a job walkout next month to protest what it calls an insulting wage proposal from Gov. Bob Ferguson.

Feel like we're takin crazy pills over here... FOR 20 YEARS, public workers have pointed to the self-defeating attempts to "save" money during and following the Great Recession by slashing programs and cutting workers' pay that resulted in BILLIONS of avoidable costs and unnecessary suffering for Washingtonians.

Governor Bob Ferguson's team appears ready to double down on the same mistakes that we are paying for today, both at the bargaining table and during the upcoming legislative session.

Send a letter to the governor, his team, and leadership at our higher ed institutions to reverse course, not double down: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-wa-state-leaders-you-cant-cut-public-services-to-excellence/

Mirroring the federal government's slash and burn approach to public services will not put us in a position to help those who will be most harmed when $4b in federal cuts hit next year — the first of $40b in estimated cuts.

New federal requirements for food benefits are already multiplying workloads for workers at Washington State DSHS who are stretched thin from years of cuts. Hungry families are paying the price, and this is just the beginning.

This isn't just a public sector issue. Studies show that everywhere states CUT services in response to recessions there were more job losses in the private and public sectors and the economy took longer to recover. Washington was one of those states.

Are these picket signs and public declarations of "no confidence"?

Is there a major labor action taking place at Seattle Central College today at 2:15pm?

You're damn right!

WFSE Local 304 members serving Seattle Colleges have all had enough of this chancellor and their administration running our college into the ground, blaming us for it, and proposing to cut even more of our jobs to fix their mistakes.

Come join this fight and be a part of this history! Today! Seattle Central College, corner of Pine & Broadway, 2:15pm! Bring some friends, a green shirt, and grab a picket sign.
