Big year-end band concert on Tuesday, June 2 at Meany Hall: Director Erin Bodnar leads her last concert with the The Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band after ably leading the ensembles this academic year as acting director. The program, "Emblems," features music by Aaron Copland, Wim Bex, Kevin Day, Dwayne Milburn, John Mackey and others. Special guest soloist is School of Music faculty artist and Seattle Symphony member Eden Garza, bass trombone. With graduate assistant conductors Yuman Wu and Solomon Encina. Please join us!

Our final Meany Hall performance of this season is this Friday, June 5, a big end-of-year concert by the UW Symphony (David Alexander, Rahbee, director) and combined UW Choirs (Giselle Wyers, director) performing music by Ottorino Respighi, Nadia Boulanger, and Francis Poulenc. Mezzo-soprano Clara Osowski is featured soloist with the combined ensembles for works by Boulanger, orchestrated by David Alexander Rahbee. Soledad Mayorga-Maldonado is featured soloist for Francis Poulenc's Gloria, with Giselle Wyers conducting. Details at the link in our bio. Concert gets under way at 7:30 pm. See you there!

Bespoke creations by VERY local artists: The Modern Music Ensemble (Cristina Valdés, director) premieres new works written especially for the ensemble by UW student composers Yongwoo Lee, Oliver Schoonover, Eddie Mospan, and Yonatan Ron this Friday, May 29, 7:30 pm, at the Gerlich Theater, Meany Hall. On top of all of that goodness, several of the composers join the ensemble for a performance of Alexis Porfiriadis' The most delicate flower. Join us!

Chamber Singers (Geoffrey Boers, director) and University Chorale (Giselle Wyers, director) wrap up their performance season this week at Meany Hall with "A Thousand Cadences," with guest musicians the Seattle Bach Festival Orchestra (Tekla Cunningham, director), joining Chamber Singers in performing Bach's Magnificat alongside Reena Esmail's "This Love Between Us," and University Chorale performing movements of Giselle Wyers' new multi-movement choral work "Lips of the Sky," (which received its debut at Carnegie Hall last Friday), along with other special and meaningful offerings and tributes.
