The undergraduate Bachelor of Arts major in Law, Societies, and Justice provides students an interdisciplinary liberal arts education regarding the unique forms of social control, institutionalized disputing, and justice commonly identified with law or legality. Courses inquire into the historically embedded principles and institutional practices associated with diverse legal domains — constitutio

The program encourages complex, critical assessments about the workings and implications of law in different social contexts according to normative standards of justice that are both internal and external to the rule of law itself.

Please join us in offering congrats to LSJ student Alex Gonzalez, the winner of the 2022-23 Akers Scholarship!

“I am greatly honored to have been awarded the Akers Scholarship for the 2022-2023 University of Washington (UW) school year. This award will be crucial in supporting and enabling me to continue my studies within Laws, Societies & Justice and research at the UW Center for Human Rights. Protecting the human rights of all (regardless of race, documentation status, gender, ethnicity, etc.) has always been my primary academic goal and I am incredibly grateful that George and Barbara Akers are supporting me in my pursuits.”
