University of Washington Department of Astronomy

University of Washington Department of Astronomy The Department of Astronomy provides engaging and challenging research opportunities covering the spectrum of modern astrophysics. The U.W.

Astronomy Department is a moderate-sized unit with outstanding strengths in many key areas, including the origin of the Solar System, the search for cosmic life, stellar evolution, the processing of the elements, the formation and structure of stars and galaxies, and the structure and evolution of the Universe. Our ten tenure/tenure-track faculty, ten emeritus and research faculty and postdocs, an

d twenty-five graduate students and many of our undergraduates are engaged in research covering a broad range of astronomical research topics that span the full range of modern methodologies from experimental to observational and theoretical.
