Happy PRIDE Month!

As Pride Month begins, we proudly uplift the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community and reaffirm our support for equality, dignity, and love for all. We believe everyone has the right to love who they love, every day of the year.

This reminds us that love knows no boundaries. It calls us to honor every individual’s right to be treated with kindness and respect, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Since 1920, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has been committed to addressing the pressing issues of each era. For more than 106 years, we have stood as a voice for the underserved and a champion for marginalized communities.

In Kamora’s own words….

My name is Kamora, and I am currently a senior at Auburn Mountainview High School. After graduating, I plan to attend Highline College to pursue nursing. My goal is to complete my foundational studies there and then transfer to a university to continue advancing my education and career in the healthcare field Outside of academics, I enjoy dancing and playing basketball, as both activities have helped me develop teamwork, discipline, and strong communication skills. I am motivated to continue growing personally and professionally as I work toward achieving my future career goals.

Today, Lambda Alpha Zeta celebrate our graduating Archonette Senior, Sumaiya Shirazy! You’ve served your community well. You showed up when you were needed and marched for causes including social justice, food insecurity, and March for Babies. We celebrate you! Your future is so bright!!!

See below for Sumaiya’s statement in her own words….

My name is Sumaiya Shirazy, and I am a senior at Henry M. Jackson High School. Throughout high school, I have been involved in community service through church outreach activities including volunteering at food pantries, assisting with clothing drives, supporting youth programs, and participating in community events that serve families in need during the holidays.

After graduation, I plan to attend Everett Community College in Everett, Washington to pursue Nursing. I am excited for this next chapter and grateful for the support and leadership opportunities I have experienced as an Archonette.
