The Laboratory’s response is integrated across disciplines at the University of Washington and other institutions, spanning basic to applied research while simultaneously assisting in the education and training of the next generation of scientists and engineers. Although APL-UW continues to meet the needs of the modern military, its mission has expanded in today's volatile global climate. With greater emphasis on basic research and far more diverse sponsors, the Laboratory is in good stead to weather future change, and perhaps even to help shape it.
