We are so glad to see Sky Yang of SnapMatePhoto, a 2025-26 Buerk Accelerator graduate, featured on GeekWire!

SnapMatePhoto is a Seattle-based marketplace built to make hiring a photographer more affordable, accessible and fast, so people can capture life’s biggest moments stress-free. Yang started building the site while still a student, initially focused on pairing students with student photographers looking to build their portfolios.

Today, SnapMatePhoto lists more than 120 photographers around Seattle, with competitors like Snappr, Flytographer and even Airbnb’s photographer marketplace it’s proof the space has real demand.
We’re excited to see where SnapMatePhoto goes next!

Exciting, thought-provoking, and inspirational.

We asked Dempsey Startup Competition Investment Round attendees to describe the event with one word, and we were touched by the responses. Students, judges, and advisors agree that the environment of the Dempsey Startup Competition is like no other.

Congratulations to all of the teams for making it to the Investment Round, and stay tuned for more information about Sweet 16 teams advancing to the next round on May 21.
