Susquehanna University Campus Garden

Susquehanna University Campus Garden We are an organically-managed market and community garden on campus at the Center for Environmental Education and Research (CEER) at Susquehanna University

The Susquehanna University Campus Garden is located at the Center for Environmental Education and Research (CEER) at the Yoder Farm. Our goal is to produce nutritious, organic food for the good of our community while giving SU students service and experiential learning opportunities. Produce harvested from the campus garden is donated to community partners who help distribute the fresh food to tho

se in need. We are always looking for volunteers interested in any aspect of food, agriculture, poverty, and homelessness. Natalie Siedhof, an AmeriCorps Vista, coordinates all of the volunteer activity at the garden. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in lending a helping hand.

Come to the Student Life Suite in Deg and pick a tag off of our Holiday Giving Tree! Each tag has the age and interests of a child who might not be getting any gifts this holiday season. We can change that!

Bring unwrapped gifts that match the child on your tag to the Student Life Suite by December 14th and change their holiday experience!!!

Winter break is almost here! Do you have extra flex that you're probably not going to use?

Rather than letting it go to waste, or buying food you don't necessarily need, you should use it to buy non perishable goods from Benny’s and drop it off at the PSECU office in the basement of Deg!! The food drive is from November 3rd to December 10th.

Why let your money go to waste?

Donations will benefit the Meals 4 Seals program which serves food insecure families in the Selinsgrove Area School District.

There will also be a candle light service held in Weber Chapel on December 10th at 7:30 and all the food donations brought there will benefit Meals 4 Seals.

The Community Food Action Team is having a bake sale in the basement of the Degenstein Campus Center from 12 - 3 today! We collected pumpkins from students on campus and re-purposed them to make tasty treats! Proceeds from the bake sale will help us continue to offer nutritious education and food justice programming on campus, and fund our free community breakfasts.

Check it out! We have created a SU Campus Garden blog that will give you an insiders look at what we're up to, as well as some interesting bio's for our current garden workers! This blog is run by our Communications and Marketing Director, and will be a bit more eventful when we get back into growing season!

Come join the Community Food Action Team (CFAT) while they host a screening of the documentary "A Place at the Table" which investigates issues of hunger in America. This event will take place on Monday, 11/23, at 7pm in Shearer Dining Rooms 2 and 3 at the Deg. Campus Center. Volunteers from Martha's Table, a group that serves free community meals each month, will attend to discuss food justice in the Selinsgrove area.

We are hosting our second Free Community Breakfast this Saturday, November 21st, at the Masonic Lodge in Selisngrove, PA! The event will run from 9am - 11am, and is located at 105 S Market Street. We will be serving waffles, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, juice, and coffee! This is an excellent opportunity for SU students to mingle with community members and share conversation over a free hot meal! There is absolutely no catch - we simply wish to offer a free meal to those in need.

This event is brought to you by the Susquehanna University Community Food Action Team and is paid for through donations from Weis Markets and Giant. We like to emphasize eating healthy and local at these events, and would gladly take any suggestions for possible local vendors who may be interested in donating items for the breakfast! Please feel free to message this facebook account, or email our AmeriCorps VISTA Natalie Siedhof at [email protected] with any information.

Good morning Facebook family! With the fall season here in full swing we need to officially report that Open Garden Hours are ending for the semester. We have our trusty Garden Team up working every day, and if we come across any big projects we promise to invite you all up to take part!

Please remember that we have many other volunteer opportunities outside of the garden, such as helping with hot meal programs! There is never an end to the need, and a break in the garden season does not mean a break in giving time and effort to help others. Feel free to message our facebook account, or email our AmeriCorps VISTA, Natalie Siedhof, at [email protected] for ways you can continue helping to make the world a better place!
