We are incredibly proud to celebrate Mrs. Jami Stortenbecker, who has been named the 2026 Nebraska Art Teachers Association Elementary Art Educator of the Year! 🏆

This recognition is a wonderful reflection of Mrs. Stortenbecker's creativity, dedication, and commitment to providing exceptional art experiences for our students.

We’re also proud to celebrate Samantha Janda, a former GPS art teacher, who received the NATA Marvin Spomer Novice Art Educator of the Year Award for her outstanding work as a beginning art educator.

Congratulations to both educators! We are proud to have such talented teachers representing Gothenburg Public Schools and making an impact in art education across Nebraska! ❤️💙

The Chair of the Department of Art, Seth Boggs, will be embarking on a Mural Tour, painting murals for churches and schools, during his sabbatical in the spring semester of 2027. Reach out if your church or school is interested in discussing a potential mural project.

Today, we celebrated the hard work, creativity, and dedication of our students at the 2026 Annual Student Art Exhibition. This group of students was awarded scholarships from our five endowments with a combined value of over $20,000. In addition, we recognized our Seniors in attendance! Thanks to everyone who came out to the Marxhausen Gallery of Art this afternoon!

We’re proud to celebrate the achievements of our Concordia Nebraska art students who exhibited their work in the recent CINCF show!

Special recognition goes to our award winners:
1st Place, 2D – Sophia Orr (junior, BA graphic design major)
2nd Place, 2D – Jozlin Schmidt (junior, BA studio major)
3rd Place, 2D – Hannah Schaefer (senior, BSED K-12 art education)
Honorable Mention – Lillian Dose ( senior, BSED K-12 art education)

We’re also grateful to Lincoln Industries for sponsoring the event and providing $100 gift cards drawn at random, which went to Ava Bartels (senior, BFA studio art), Ella Brandt (junior, BFA studio art), Micah Knerl (junior, BFA studio art), and Jozlin Schmidt (junior, BA studio major) .
