Oklahoma Baptist University’s Master of Science in Physician Associate Studies program has been granted Accreditation-Provisional status by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.

The decision clears the way for OBU to welcome its first cohort of 40 students in January 2027. The program is built to prepare physician associates who care for the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of their patients.

See how it works, from on-campus immersion weeks to second-year clinical rotations, in the full story linked in the comments.

Some of tomorrow’s teachers spent today on Bison Hill.

High school students joined OBU faculty and education students for Discover Teaching, a day of hands-on sessions on what it really looks like to teach, with breakouts ranging from science and Spanish to special education and theatre.

Teaching is a calling that shapes lives for decades. We’re grateful we got to help a few future educators take a closer look at theirs.

Thank you to the teachers and schools who brought students, and to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education for the grant that made today free. 🍎

Leadership looks different when you see it up close.

This week, OBU’s Presidential Leadership Class visited Bethany Children’s Health Center for an evening on leadership, faith and service. They toured the health center and heard from CEO Nico Gomez and from Albert and Carol Gray, authors of A Legacy of Hope.

In 1977, the Grays took over a struggling convalescent facility on the brink of closure. Over the next 45 years, their commitment to excellence, innovation and compassionate care helped shape it into one of the nation’s premier pediatric rehabilitation hospitals.

OBU and Bethany Children’s share a foundation in Christian faith and service. OBU equips students to pursue academic excellence and live worthy of their calling in Christ. Bethany Children’s puts those same convictions to work through care for children and families. For our students, the evening showed how a calling, answered faithfully, can change an organization and the lives of the children it serves. 🦬

Thank you to Bethany Children’s for hosting us.

Take up and read.

Those words sent Augustine to Paul’s letter to the Romans, and his life was never the same. This past week, educators and students gathered on Bison Hill for Lamppost 2026 to explore how great books still shape the way we live.

OBU faculty led sessions on Homer, Dante, Don Quixote, Coleridge and T.S. Eliot. Students worked through the Odyssey and Boethius’ Consolation of Philosophy, and tried their hand at writing short stories. Philosopher Jennifer Frey delivered this year’s keynote.

Thank you to everyone who spent the day with us, and to OBU’s Division of Language and Literature for hosting a day devoted to reading well and teaching well.
