END OF AN ERA: For over a decade, our SC Music students and community musicians enjoyed the expertise and leadership of an internationally-recognized arranger, composer, and conductor in Dr. Eric Richards. He invigorated our department and made our bands the flagship ensembles of the program. While he will be greatly missed by all, SC Music wishes him all the best in the next chapter of his musical adventure. Thank you, Doc, for all you gave to us!

Sheridan College Presents 10th Annual Spring POPS Concert
SHERIDAN, Wyo. — Sheridan College will present their 10th annual Spring POPS Concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, in Kinnison Hall at the Whitney Center for the Arts. The event is free and does not require advance tickets.

Under the direction of Dr. Eric Richards, this family-friendly concert celebrates music performed by Sheridan College students and community members in the SC Symphony Band and Jazz Ensemble. The Symphony Band’s program includes:
• The overture from “The Cowboys” by John Williams
• Mozart's overture to "The Marriage of Figaro", arranged for band by Earl Slocom
• “Irish Tune From County Derry” by Percy Grainger
• “Epic Gaming Themes” arranged by Paul Murtha.

The SC Jazz Ensemble will present a program of funk, swing, classic big band, and Latin-flavored music, to include:
• "Steampunk" by Erik Morales
• The big band classic, "String of Pearls"
• Richards' arrangement of the James Brown hit "Livin' In America."

The evening will feature several local soloists:
• Sgt. Stephanie Zukowski performing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables
• Amanda Allyn and friends singing “Daddy Lessons,” a song recorded by Beyonce and The Chicks
• Tami Davis performing a swinging arrangement of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”
• Saxophonist Tab Barker performing “Europa”, arranged by Richards, and the blues classic “Green Onions.”

The Spring POPS Concert is our way of celebrating another great year of music at Sheridan College. It’s a fun, wide-ranging program and a great chance for the community to relax and enjoy an evening together!
