Dear Counseling Alumni,
This is a message from one of our doctoral counseling students:
My name is Karen Capone and I am a doctoral student in Counselor Education and Supervision at Shippensburg University. If you are an LPC in Pennsylvania, attended a CACREP program and are interested in the deeper exploration of your race and gender as it relates to the intersection of privileged and oppressed identities, please consider participating in my research study about the lived experience of white, female counselors titled: Through the Looking Glass: A Phenomenological Exploration of the Lived Experience of White, Female Counselors in South Central Pennsylvania as it Pertains to Privilege and Oppression.
I am seeking six volunteers to share their stories. If interested, you will be asked to offer some insight into what interests you about this topic. Upon selection to participate, a conversation will be scheduled and you will be sent the informed consent and conversation prompts to review and reflect. We will then tape a 60-90 conversation guided by the semi-structured conversation prompts. The stories you share will be used to generate a rich description of some aspects of being a White, female counselor.
Remember, this is completely voluntary. You can choose to be in the study or not. If you are interested in participating or have any questions about the study, please contact me by phone at 304-283-0808 or email at [email protected].
Thank you very much.
